The French Barb Horse Stud-Book
It is recognized by the OMCB (World Barb
Horse Organisation).
It is jointly managed by the AFCB and the
National Stud as a “Foreign Breed” and contains two sections:
- The Barb section
- The Arab-Barb section which lists horses
produced by breeding the following:
* Barb mare x Arabian

* Arab-Barb mare x

* Arab-Barb mare x Barb

Racial
standard :
- FORMAT: medium, eumetric
- PROPORTIONS: medium of line
- PROFILE: Convex, Slightly Roman nose
- COAT: Gray, bay or
chestnut, abundant and thick mane and tail
- HEIGHT: Average = 1 m

point of shoulder to point of buttock ):
Equal to the height
- BODY INDEX H/L: Equal to 1

MEASUREMENT: Minimum 18 cm
Morphological
Features:
- HEAD: Fairly
substantial with thick jowls, unobtrusive nostrils
- EARS: smallish
- EYE: Brows
flush with head, slightly hooded eye
- NECK: Well-set,
arched
- WITHERS: High, very prominent
- SHOULDER: Well-laid
- CHEST: Deep and broad
- BACK: Strong,
with a prominent backbone
- LOIN: Short, powerful and
sometimes curved
upwards
- CROUP: Steep-rumped
- TAIL: carried low
- BUTTOCKS: Cut
off short, muscular
- UPPER THIGH: Dry, flat
- HOCKS: well
let down, broad, lean, sometimes sickle or close
